Frequently Asked Questions
What is a pomodoro timer?
A timer for the pomodoro technique: it runs 25 minutes of work, then a 5 minute break, and gives you a longer break after four rounds. This one moves from round to round by itself, so you only press Start once.
Can I change the lengths?
Yes. Set the work, short break and long break in whole minutes, from 1 to 90, and choose 2 to 8 work rounds before the long break. A common change is 50 minutes of work with a 10 minute break.
Can it wait for me between rounds?
Yes. Turn off Start the next round by itself, and the timer stops at the end of each round until you press Start.
Does it make a sound?
With Sound on, it plays a chime at the end of each round. Sound is off until you turn it on, and some browsers block sound until you click the page, so the screen also says which round comes next.
Does it keep going if I switch tabs?
Yes. It works from the time each round ends, not by counting ticks, so the time is right when you come back, and it shows in the tab’s title. Keep the device awake, since a sleeping device can stop it.
How is this different from the 25 minute timer?
The 25 minute timer runs once and stops. The pomodoro timer runs the whole cycle of work and breaks, counts your rounds and gives you the long break.
Is anything saved?
No. The timer runs in your browser, nothing about it is sent to us, and a reload starts it fresh.
