Frequently Asked Questions
How do I flip a coin online?
Press Flip the coin. The coin turns over in the air and lands on heads or tails, and the page says which. Press again for another flip.
Is this coin flip fair?
Yes. Heads and tails each have an equal chance. The side comes from your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator, and then the coin turns to it. Each flip stands alone, so the flips before it don’t change the next one.
Why aren’t my heads and tails even?
A few flips rarely come out even, and 7 heads out of 10 is nothing strange. The more you flip, the closer the two counts usually get to half each.
What can I use a coin toss for?
Who goes first in a board game, which team picks a side, who gets the front seat, or a choice between two things that both sound good. Give each side its meaning before you flip.
Can I use it in class?
Yes. Put it on the projector to pick a side for a class game, or flip 20 times, tally the results with the count and talk about why they rarely come out exactly even.
What’s on the coin?
A big H on the heads side and a big T on the tails side, so the back of the room can read it. It’s our own drawing, not the money of any country.
Are my flips saved?
No. The coin flips in your browser and nothing about it is sent to us. The count is gone when you reload or leave the page.
Is it free?
Yes. There’s no sign-up and nothing to install.
