Frequently Asked Questions
Does the stopwatch keep going if I switch tabs?
Yes. It works from the moment you pressed Start, not by counting ticks, so the time is right when you come back. The time shows in the tab’s title while it runs.
How long can it run?
For a day and more. Past an hour the display changes from minutes, seconds and hundredths to hours, minutes and seconds. Where the browser allows it, the screen stays on while it runs. Keep the device awake, since a sleeping device can stop the count.
How do the laps work?
Press Lap as a runner passes or a round ends. The list numbers each lap and shows its own time beside the running total. Laps carry on after you stop and resume, and time spent stopped counts toward none of them.
How accurate is it?
It reads your device’s own clock, which is plenty for a class race or a game. The bigger difference is usually the person pressing the button, so have the same person press it each time.
Can I show it on a projector?
Yes. Press Big screen and only the digits fill the screen. With a keyboard, press Space to start or stop it there. Press Escape or Leave big screen to go back to Lap and Reset.
Does it make a sound?
No. The stopwatch is silent, so you can run it during a quiet activity.
Is anything saved?
No. The stopwatch runs in your browser and nothing about it is sent to us. Reload the page and it starts fresh, so press Copy laps first if you want to keep them.
Is it free?
Yes. There’s no sign-up and nothing to install.
