Classroom Spinner Ideas: Ways to Use a Wheel in Class

Published

Hand Out Class Jobs

Put the jobs on a wheel and spin once a week. Everyone sees the choice is fair, and nobody has to hear “why me?”. Hide each job once it’s taken, so every job goes once.

Spin for a Reward

Put small rewards on a wheel, such as a pick of the music, an extra five minutes of reading or a sticker. A spin at the end of a good day makes a short, happy ending.

Warm Up With Math and Reading

Spin a number for a quick times-table question, or a word for a sight-word round. A wheel keeps everyone paying attention, because the next question could be theirs.

Play a Quick Word Game

Spin a letter and ask the class for words that start with it, or spin a category and think of something that fits. It works well as a five-minute filler before the bell.

Start a Class Debate

Spin a “would you rather” question and have students move to one side of the room or the other to explain their choice. It is an easy way to get everyone talking.

Learn the Words Your Class Says

Spin a slang word and let a student explain it to you, then check the answer. It turns the words you do not know into a game, and it shows kids you are curious.
