Why use a shape wheel

Sixteen flat and solid shapes are on the wheel. Spin one, name its sides and corners, then hunt for it around the room.

  • Teach flat and solid shapes

Spin a shape and ask how many sides, corners or faces it has.

  • Find the shape around the room

Kids spin and race to find something with that shape.

  • Draw a picture from one shape

Students spin and turn the shape into a drawing.

This wheel wears the Big Spin Theory theme: a science lab: graph paper, beakers and an atom for a hub. Your own copy keeps it, or pick another wheel theme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep only flat shapes?

Yes. Click “Create your own shape picker” and remove the solid shapes for younger classes.

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. Every entry has a slice of the same size, and where the wheel stops is picked with your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so nobody can predict or rig the result.

Can I change the entries on this wheel?

Yes. Click “Create your own shape picker” to save your own copy. You can then add, remove or rename entries, change the theme and spin settings, and share or embed your wheel.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up needed. Create a free account only if you want to keep your wheels together.
