Why use a continent wheel

All seven continents are already on the wheel. Spin one and find it on the map, name a country in it, or hand them out to groups for a class project.

  • Teach the 7 continents

Teachers can spin a continent and ask the class to point to it on the map.

  • Run a quick map quiz

Spin a continent and ask for one country, one animal or one ocean next to it.

  • Hand out continents for a project

Spin one per group and hide each winner, so every continent gets a poster.

This wheel wears the Spin Ahoy! theme: a pirate ship: a ship's wheel to spin, a treasure map and the jolly roger. Your own copy keeps it, or pick another wheel theme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why seven continents?

Seven is what most schools in English-speaking countries teach. Some countries count six or five, joining the Americas or Europe and Asia.

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. Every entry has a slice of the same size, and where the wheel stops is picked with your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so nobody can predict or rig the result.

Can I change the entries on this wheel?

Yes. Click “Create your own continent picker” to save your own copy. You can then add, remove or rename entries, change the theme and spin settings, and share or embed your wheel.

Is it free?

Completely free, with no sign-up needed. Create a free account only if you want to keep your wheels together.

Make your own continent wheel
