Funny Questions to Ask Friends, Family and Class
Published
Funny questions to ask are the silly ones with no right answer, such as is a hot dog a sandwich, what would your pet say, or what’s the worst pizza topping. Everyone has an opinion, so the whole table joins in.
Silly Debates
Is a hot dog a sandwich? Is cereal a soup? Is a tomato allowed in a fruit salad? Does a straw have one hole or two? Why do we park in driveways and drive on parkways?
These work because nobody can win, and people take them far too seriously. Give each side 30 seconds, then take a vote.
For Friends
What’s the most useless thing you know a lot about? What would your phone say about you if it could talk? If you had a theme song, what would it be? What’s the worst superpower you can think of? Which of us would be the first to get lost in a corn maze?
For Family Dinner
What would the dog say about each of us? If our family were a TV show, what would it be called? Which vegetable would you be? What’s the silliest rule we could add to this house? Which one of us would make the best pirate?
For Kids and Class
What do fish think about all day? What job would a cat have? What would a cloud eat for breakfast? If your shoes could talk, what would they say? Would you rather have a pet dragon or a pet unicorn?
Save one for the last five minutes of a lesson. Students can vote on the funniest answer, which also makes it good speaking practice.
Let a Wheel Choose
Reading from a list can feel like a quiz. A wheel makes it a game: spin, laugh at what comes up, and hand the phone to the next person. You can add your own questions and in-jokes, and save the wheel for next time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these funny questions fine for kids?
Yes. All of them are clean, so you can use them at a family dinner or in a classroom.
What makes a question funny?
It has no right answer, but people still feel strongly about it. The arguing is the fun part.
